Ah, how cute!  I love the way you've set the scene, with the moon behind his head and the light coming through the dark forest to put a spotlight on him.  It suits his pose.  With his wings held out that way, it gives me a sense of "ta da!" or "look at me!"--almost like his branch is his own personal stage.  The yellow moonlight outlining him and his immediate area draws you right in to concentrate on the main character.

I like your character design as well. The directional mottling on his chest and around his eyes is a great addition that helps give him form.  I think coloring his eyes that glistening orange was a good choice as well, as it gives his mainly dark body a highlight that grabs your attention.  The broad head, big eyes, and cute little beak make him very engaging.  I do see that one of his ears tufts is a bit smaller than the other.  Not sure that was a conscious choice?  It makes him a little lopsided.

The choice of setting is perfect for his character, and you did a great job with the texture on the tree.  I do feel as though the color of the tree is a bit odd though.  The areas highlighted by moonlight should be cast yellowish, and the areas the light does not hit should be much darker.  I won't say black, because you want the tree to be visible, but certainly a darker gray.  My only other note is that the yellow outline on the branch should actually extend a little down the tree trunk because the area that is touched by the light will actually expand as the distance from the clearing in the canopy increases; the light will angle outward.

This is really cute.  I especially like the little "hoot hoot!" added under his name. :heart:  Great work!  I'd love to see you do a piece in more detail some day.  I hope my feedback is helpful, and do let me know if you have any followup comments or questions.

Thank you so much for this comment! I had not noticed the asymmetry of the ear tufts, now that you mention it!

For the color of the tree, I was almost picturing a secondary light source inside the canopy? Oh well I guess that didn't show through, I do see the problem with the yellow outline though!!

Thanks again for commenting, i really appreciate it!! B-) B-)

No problem!  With a secondary light source, the tree would make more sense, but it was sort of odd for me to imagine a white/blue light source inside the dark forest. ^_^;
